The Costa Calida
Los Alcazares

The Costa Calida is situated in the south-east of the Iberian Peninsula. To the north lies the Costa Blanca and to the south lies the Costa de Almeria with a total of 250 kilometers of coastline.

The Costa Calida begins at El Mojon, an old fishing village with a superb beach. A short distance from El Mojon you will find the Regional Park of Las Salinas y Arenales de San Pedro del Pinatar, the most important wetlands in the region of Murcia. Flocks of pink flamingos rest here each year. The saltworks were exploited by the Romans and are a complex network of pools. Two kilometers away is Lo Pagan, a town with the largest area of open-area mud baths in Europe. These mud baths are recommended for all kinds of skin complaints. In addition you will find several tranquil beaches, an early morning fish market and ample night-life.

Blessed by the mild Mediterranean climate it has at least 315 days of sun per year. Minimum temperatures range between 12-14C and maximum temperatures between 20-22C during the Winter months whilst Summer temperatures vary  between a minimum of 18-20C and a maximum of 30-35C. The average annual temperature is Canoeing on the Mar Menor18C.The people are gentle and helpful, the whole region is well worth taking the time to explore and the good living is to be enjoyed. The seawater is warm and very pleasant for bathing. It is unique in that there is a peninsula which runs parallel to the coastline thus forming the Mar Menor (small sea).

The Mar Menor, Europe's largest salt water lagoon, is over 170 square kilometres of shallow water surrounded by the districts of San Pedro del Pinatar, San  Javier, Santiago de la Ribera, Los Alcazares and La Manga amongst others. Cartagena is worth a special mention because of its historical interest. For more than two thousand years it was a strategic Mediterranean port and, surrounded by fortifications, it boasts numerous fine archaeological remains.

La Manga Club with three 18-hole courses is one of the world's great resorts. A luxurious playground has been shaped on 1400 acres of lush, rolling countryside scattered with thousands of palm trees and surrounded by lemon groves.
