Living the Dream
Costa Blanca

Climate
The climate in the Torrevieja is said, by the World Health Organisation, to be oneTemperature Chart of the healthiest anywhere in the world. More than half the total area of the town is taken up by the 'Salterns of Torrevieja', two natural saltwater lagoons regarded to be the largest in Europe. This combined with the surrounding mountains creates a microclimate said to be beneficial to sufferers of rheumatism, arthritis and asthma.

According to various sources, this part of Spain receives on average 320-340 days of sunshine a year, with an average temperature of 18-20 degrees centigrade.

Cost of Living
The cost of living in Torrevieja is considerably lower than in the UK. For starters no large winter heating bills of course. Food is considerably cheaper, especially if you shop in the many markets that take place each week. Eating out is also much cheaper. You can have a 3 course meal, plus salad, bread and a drink and still get change out of a €7.00. Petrol costs about €0.75c a litre, cigarettes average about €2.00 a pack. Generally utility bills like electricity, water, telephone and local rates are much lower than the UK.

Leisure
There are numerous glorious beaches, as you would expect in the Torrevieja area. La Mata, La Zenia, Playa Flamenca, Los Locos, El Cura and Lo Ferris to name just a few. These are some of the best (blue flag) beaches in the Mediterranean and most have entertainment area for children, volleyball Costa Blanca Beachnets, bars and restaurants plus of course, golden sand and crystal clear water.

The climate and the beaches lend themselves to a variety of water sports like wind surfing, surfing, water skiing and so on. The International Sports Marina also offers facilities for yachting and diving. Paragliding is also very popular in the area and there a couple of centres just up the coast at Santa Pola. The town also has a new Sports Palace which is a state of the art complex with facilities for most sports, such as squash, football, swimming, bad minton, basketball etc. It really is a very impressive and stylish building. The Aqua Park has lots of water slides suitable for all ages and is well worth a visit.

Beaches
Originally a small fishing village, Torrevieja has grown considerably over the years into a picturesque town surrounded by some of the most envied beaches in the world. With their breathtaking crystal clear waters and fine sand, it comes as no surprise to learn that the beaches of Torrevieja - El Acequión, El Cura, Los Locos, La Mata, and Los Náufragos - have all held the distinguished European Blue flag award for many years.
